Aromayoga
Yoga and Essential Oils are a partnership made in heaven. When we inhale a high quality Essential Oil we are transported to the present moment. On inhalation, it is very tricky to be projecting into the future or ruminating on the past. One of the benefits of a Yoga or Meditation practice is that it also aims to bring us to the here and now. In this sense, combining Essential Oils with your Yoga or other spiritual practice is a perfect compliment. Here are some of the simple benefits I have noticed in both teaching and using Essential Oils in a Yoga Setting :

How can I start using Essential Oils in my practice?
Whether you are a teacher or a student, take your Oils to your mat, open the bottle and apply gently to somewhere on your body. Be intuitive, perhaps the shoulders, or the soles of the feet feels right for you. And allow the Aroma to inspire and inform your practice. you dont need to put words to it, simply allow yourself to have an experience. And as you close out the practice re-apply the Oil again intuitively to your body. Perhaps it is enough to simply apply under the nose, or perhaps an application on the heart. As you rest in Svasana or meditation let the Oil hold, support and guide you. Mostly enjoy! This isn’t something to get right! It is something to experience and enjoy.
